  • Barbara Mbitjana Moore (b. 1964) spent her early years in Tea Tree.  She then moved to Amata, one of six main Aboriginal communites in the APY Lands of South Australia.

She began to paint in 2003 and skyrocketed to prominence with her 2012 win in the Painting category of the 29th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award, Australia’s primary showcase for contemporary Aboriginal art. Moore’s work displays bravura expression in brushstroke and a mastery of large scale composition.
